SUMMARY
Supports the Chief Legal Officer, Assistant General Counsel and Legal Department generally in the development and implementation of legal strategy and protecting the organization’s legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. Serves as legal expert and counsel for Qcells USA‘s Development team with a special focus, and as primary expert, on real estate and real property matters. Influences cross-functional decision-making by collaborating with internal partners and leading multi-disciplinary teams to guide development of company policies and best practices. Uses seasoned legal judgment to proactively identify and develop creative solutions to complex problems to help the company achieve its goals and priorities. Manages external counsel and coordinates with internal legal team members in delivery of legal services. This position reports to the Assistant General Counsel, or another senior management personnel that the President of the Company may designate. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. This position may require travel up to 25%.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regular attendance, in accordance with company's attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position
- Development:
- Negotiates and documents a wide array of contracts including, as needed, those related to real property leases and purchases, portfolio and project sales, services contracts, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements and other agreements.
- Provides general legal services and advice to Qcells USA’s Development team.
Real Estate:
- Serves as primary legal expert on all matters related to real estate, real property and related matters.
- Assist Qcells USA’s Development team in implementing its general real estate strategies.
- Assist with negotiation of acquisitions and sales of land and other real property rights to support Qcells USA’s renewable energy and other business goals.
- Assist with due diligence and derisking Qcells USA’s current or potential real property.
- Such other real estate and property related matters as maybe required.
Cross Department Support:
- Provides support to the legal department and Qcells USA as needed.
- Such other tasks as the Chief Legal Officer or Assistant General Counsel may assign.
- All other duties as assigned by General Counsel or other senior management personnel.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years relevant experience
- Strong background in real property related legal work
- Experience in the energy industry preferred
